Projects

The projects carried out by the Legal Register Centre (LRC) support the digitalisation of the administrative branch of the Ministry of Justice and help develop services, information systems, operating practices and expertise. Through projects, we implement the LRC’s strategic objectives and respond to changes in our operating environment.

Each year, the LRC’s project portfolio includes approximately 50 projects.

What are the benefits of project-based work?

Project-based work helps ensure that development activities are carried out in a planned and controlled manner. It provides a clear framework for setting objectives, using resources effectively and achieving the intended benefits.

Project-based work supports:

  • Clear objectives and planning: everyone understands what is being done, why it is being done and according to what schedule.
  • Efficient use of resources: personnel, time and costs can be planned and monitored more effectively.
  • Proactive risk management: potential challenges are identified early and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Clear responsibilities and decision-making: roles, responsibilities and decision-making processes are clearly defined.
  • Effective collaboration: different stakeholders work together towards common goals.
  • Quality assurance: requirements management, testing and approval are carried out systematically.
  • Controlled implementation of change: new operating models and solutions can be introduced in a structured way.
  • Monitoring benefits: development outcomes and their impacts can be assessed and monitored.

The IT Development Portfolio and Project Model as a foundation for our work

Every project initiated at the LRC goes through the prioritisation, decision-making and governance process of the IT development portfolio.

The purpose of portfolio management and monitoring is to direct development efforts towards the most strategically important initiatives, maintain an overall view of the organisation’s development activities and maximise the benefits generated by investments.

The LRC’s Project Services unit and its Project Management Office (PMO) support and coordinate project implementation and progress. New platforms for small-scale development, such as low-code solutions, also enable more agile delivery of development initiatives.
