Legal Register Centre’s website content made clearer

The content on the renewed website is easier to understand and it directs visitors to using e-services.

The content of the Services section was made clearer in the renewal. The work was started in September 2023 and the new website content was finalised in summer 2024. Among other topics, the Services section has information on applying for payment time, the enforcement of fines and other sanctions, and the registers controlled by the Legal Register Centre (LRC).

‘Our aim was to create informative content that is easy to read to make sure that taking care of legal matters online and using our digital services is as effortless as possible’, says Kati Kilpeläinen, Development Manager at the LRC.

The work was started in collaboration with the Noon Kollektiivi, a group specialising in social communications, by determining the tone of voice used when LRC communicates to its customers. After this, the collaboration continued with editing the content of the section.

In this collaborative stage, terminology was harmonised, content was summarised, and its readability was improved by creating different lists, for example. Attention was paid to the accessibility of the content as well.

Customer-focused clarifications

Information on the needs of different customer profiles determined for the LRC was taken advantage of in the development.

In addition to LRC’s communications team, specialists in registration matters and enforcement also contributed to the work to ensure that the content is as informative as possible and serves our customers well. The specialists have everyday knowledge on what information our customers are usually looking for and search terms they use, for example.

‘Today, services and customer advice must be accessible where the customers are. Investing in the content of our website helps our customers find the information they need easily and around the clock. A working website is a cornerstone of comprehensive services’, Kilpeläinen says.

The LRC is also developing its e-services as part of its digital services. On the renewed website, customers are directed to using e-services more effectively than before, and information is provided on the advantages of e-services, such as the lower prices and speed.

Entirely new content and dozens of updated pages

When the content was reviewed at the start of the project, it was found that entirely new content was needed as well. As a result, 26 existing pages were updated and six new pages were created. The topics of the new pages include the victim surcharge and refunding payments.

The LRC’s website will be renewed in its entirety during 2025 as part of the website renewal project on the Ministry of Justice’s administrative branch. This means the content of the other sections will also be improved.
