Register on bans on animal keeping

LRC can issue an extract from the register on bans on animal keeping for the safeguarding of animal welfare or another acceptable purpose. For example, extracts from the register on bans on animal keeping can be issued to breed societies that register animals in pedigrees or breed registers.

How can I order an extract from the register on bans on animal keeping?

Order the extract conveniently through LRC's electronic service. Using the electronic service requires strong authentication. The price of an extract or certificate is 22 euros, invoiced after delivery.

An extract includes the individual's currently valid bans on animal keeping. A certificate states that the individual is not subject to a ban on animal keeping. 

If there are entries in the register, the extract can be issued in Finnish or Swedish. If there are no entries, the certificate will be issued in three languages: Finnish, Swedish and English.

If you are unable to use the electronic service, order the extract with a free-form application.

Information required in the application:

• the name of the person whose information is being requested;
• the personal identity code of the subject of the extract;
• the purpose of the extract;
• postage information for the extract/certificate;
• billing information and reference number, if required; and
• the name, address and telephone number (not mandatory) of the person ordering the extract.

Send the application to us by one of the following methods:

• Through the Suomi.fi/messagesservice (Legal Register Centre > Register services).
• By email to [email protected]. We recommend the Ministry of Justice's secure messaging service . Enter your email address into the service and register it. You will then be sent an email link that will take your message securely to its recipient.
• By post to Legal Register Centre/YOR, PO BOX 157, 13101 Hämeenlinna, Finland. Please remember to sign a physical application.

Delivery of the extract

You can get an electronic extract quickly from the electronic service. You can choose delivery to Suomi.fi Messages or by post. If you order the extract by another method, it will normally be delivered by post.
