Disclosure of information to the media

The Legal Register Centre improves the media’s access to information by disclosing public register data and case management information from the national processing system.

The Legal Register Centre can disclose information from the national record and case management system for editorial purposes. Basic information about legal proceedings, as well as other record data that is in the public domain and whose disclosure has not been restricted by a court of law, may be disclosed. The information is available for a period of ten years starting from the year during which the decision was made.

The centralised disclosure of information via the Legal Register Centre offers the media better access to information, and journalists need not contact the individual courts. Having seen the information, journalists may contact the court that resolved the matter to ask for more specific information.

Submitting a request for information

If you need basic information about legal proceedings or any other record data from the Legal Register Centre, submit a request for information. The request for information must include the following:

Send the request for information to tietopalvelu.ork(at)om.fi. If you have any other questions, you can add in the email a request for the Legal Register Centre’s specialists to get back to you by phone.
