The Nordic countries cooperate in the enforcement of criminal judgments
Finland and the other Nordic countries have agreed on cooperation in the enforcement of criminal judgments. In Finland, the Legal Register Centre (LRC) is responsible for the enforcement of sanctions.
Finland cooperates with the other Nordic countries, that is, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark, in the enforcement of criminal judgments.
Has a sanction been imposed on you in another Nordic country?
If you have been given a sentence or decision on
- a fine,
- a conditional fine,
- forfeiture, or
- the compensation of legal fees in a criminal procedure
in another Nordic country, the matter can be transferred to Finland for enforcement.
The enforcement will be carried out according to Finnish law. However, a fine imposed in another Nordic country cannot be converted to imprisonment in Finland.

Can I get more payment time?
You can apply for more time for paying a Nordic sanction when the matter is listed in the electronic service or the LRC has sent you a reminder for payment. Payment time will only be granted for a justified reason.
