Request to inspect personal data

Everyone has the right to review their own criminal records. Information obtained with a request for access to data is intended solely for personal use.

You have the right to request your criminal records from the Legal Register Centre (LRC). The LRC will also inform you if you have no criminal record.

The LRC will not confirm such information with a signature or stamp, for example. If you need an official extract from your criminal records, for example for your employer, you can order it quickly and easily from the LRC's electronic service .

How can I request to obtain my information?

If you want to review your criminal records, please use the form found on our website (Register access form (pdf ).

Complete the application carefully and send it to us by one of the following methods:

  • Through the Suomi.fi/messages service (Legal Register Centre > Register services).
  • By email to [email protected]. We recommend the Ministry of Justice's secure messaging service . Enter your email address into the service and register it. You will then be sent an email link that will take your message securely to its recipient.
  • By post to Legal Register Centre/Criminal records, PO BOX 157, 13101 Hämeenlinna, Finland.

You cannot access your criminal records by telephone.

You can also send a free-form written application to the LRC. Such applications must contain all of the information requested on LRC's above-mentioned application form.

Delivery of the extract

The LRC will process requests for access in one month or no later than in three months of receiving the application. We will send our reply to you by post.

Requesting to access your records is free of charge.
